Environmental Chemistry

This course covers the chemical composition, transformations and cycling of elements of Earth's environmental systems. Topics include the aqueous chemistry of metals, the production and fate of natural organic matter, weathering, erosion and transport of elements and nutrients. The course also examines how human activities impact the fate of elements and pollutants in the environment. PREREQ: CHMI 1006 and 1007. GEOL 1007 and/or ENSC 1406 are recommended. (Lec 2.5; lab/field 0.5) 3 cr. (Students cannot retain credit for both ENSC 2126/CHMI 2126 and CHMI 2041)
